The carpet on your stairs goes through more abuse than any of your other carpet. Actually, it’s normally the very first stair that takes the most punishment.

If you have pet damage at the corner of a stair, I’m likely to suggest a carpet patch. It doesn’t matter to me if the patch is on the corner or not. I can do it. If your stair carpet is loose or wrinkled, I’ll stretch the carpet on that stair or stairs. There’s a special set of skills required to re-stretch carpet on a stair. More often than not, stair carpet is installed using long strips of carpet. Usually we install several at a time using one piece of carpet. If only one or two stairs need stretching, I’ll need to cut the carpet from the stair, cut it into single pieces and then re-install the carpet the old fashioned way.

I can take carpet out of a closet and replace a stair or two. Sometimes an entire stairway can be replaced by cannibalizing an entire bedroom carpet. I’ll take the entire carpet out of one room, replace the carpet on the stairs and then you can buy new carpet from a local store to re-carpet that bedroom. This way, the carpet in the rest of your home still matches your stairs.
